Gautam Gambhir - The best Indian opener since Sunil Gavaskar
Gautam Gambhir is one of the leading cricketer in the Indian cricket team. He is left-handed opening batsman as well. Fans call him “Gauti”.
Gautam Gambhir was born on 14th octomber 1981, New Delhi India. Gautam’s father is Deepak Gambhir, a retired army person and running a Bussiness in Delhi. Gambhir sister is Ekta Gambhir. In childhood itself gambhir lived with his grand parents in separate houses.Even though gambhir and her sister lived in different houses they share and keep touch with each other and advise each other on various topics.
In to Cricket
In 2003 ODI Gambhir played his 1st match as middle order batsman against Bangladesh. In 2004, his took maiden Test century against Bangaladesh. In his 3rd match he scored 71 and got “Man of the Match” award.
while he was out of the Test team, he played a number of ODI for India in the year 2005-2007.unfortunately he was not selected in 2007 World Cup , at that time he told “I don’t want to play anymore.I didn’t want to practice and i couldn’t Motivate myself”.
Later Gambhir was selected for ODI on India’s 2007 tour of Bangladesh. He believed this is his Last chance and he scored his Century in this match. He scored unbeaten 80 against Ireland in the first game of that tour and awarded "Man of the Match". In 2007 ICC World Twenty20 Gambhir was selected and went to South Africa to win and final match against Pakistan.
In this match Gambhir performed well and the end of the tournament, he is the India’s top run scorer with 227 at the average of 37.83.
In final match he scored 75 runs out of 54 balls against Pakistan. He score an unbeaten 130 in the Ranji Trophy final to help Delhi team to beat Uttar Pradesh. Gambhir missed the ODI tournament in Australia due to shoulder Injury. In the year 2007-08 CB series he scored 102 runs. After three weeks later In Sydney he scored best 0f 113 for 119 balls against Australia. In CB series He is the leading run scorer with 440 runs.
In IPL Gambhir picked for Delhi Daredevils as 1st player on auction of the IPL for a price of US$725,000 for a year and he become highest run-scorer of the season with 534 runs from 14 matches. He was promoted to the post of Captain of Delhi Daredevils for IPL Season 2010. At the end of the tournament he become only player from Delhi Daredevils to score More than 1000 runs in IPL season. In 2011 Gambhir join Kolkata Knight Riders and get highest paid cricketer in the history of IPL and he was appointed as the skipper of the team.
In Kolkatta Knight Riders under Gambhir’s captaincy in Twenty20 against Chennai Super Kings and win the title Champions League Twenty20 in Chennai. He is the leading run-scorer of the Kolkata Knight Riders.
In 2009 Gambhir is the ICC Test Player of the Year and NO.1 Batsman in ICC ranking in the same year.
