Taxila is in Pakistan . It was one of the best historical  and top most tourist place of pakistan .

As per some sources , upto 5th century taxila had the learning centre which was the oldest one in this world . History says at the age of 16 a student can enter this university for higher education .
 
People:
 
Taxila had been variously a capital for many dynasties, and a centre of Vedic and Buddhist learning.It has the population of Buddhists, Hindus, Greeks that may have endured for centuries.
 
Now taxila locates in Rawalpindi District of Punjab province of Pakistan ( About 35KM from Rawalpindi ) .
